The Begining
February was the one year anniversary of uploading my website. When I realized this, once I got the re-new bill, I told myself, 2017 is going to be different. This was going to be the year that I FINALLY start to photograph more and update my website. If I didn’t do this by the time my renewal occurred, then I was going to cancel.
As you can imagine, the time to renew came with no new post. The sight was sitting, dusty, and for whatever reason, I was trying to figure out why no one was looking at it. I let the website auto renew because I couldn’t part with it. I already bought the url, and I was having intense flashbacks to putting it together. That was a dark, dark time. I had no idea what I was doing, and I had a deep desire to make it perfect.
This time around, I’m not shooting for perfect. I’m just aiming to shoot, at least once a week. There’s probably not going to be regular image re-touching, but they’ll improve. You may see things go up and quickly come down. The theme may change again, but honestly, there’s no time like the present.
I want to share the stories behind some of my images, the reasons why they came to be. I want to share new projects and my attempts to get lost with my film camera and a few rolls of Kodak portray. I want to share why I don’t go out and shoot. Most of all I want to share what I see and think with whomever wants to see.
To commemorate the beginning of this journey, I’m putting up a selfie I took with a Hasselblad about a year ago. It’s slightly out of focus, but it’s almost there, just like this website.
